Any common problems ?
Only 3 hours on it
Only 3 hours on it
Thanks , I’ll have a look at it the boat has been in a friends shed for nearly 20 years , have it fully serviced etc, ready for a sea trial in a couple of weeks .Only recurring problem I have seen on these engines is the small pressure pipe from the inlet manfold to wastegate fractures, easy to replace.
CheersCheck the front pully see if it is loose, they had a habit of loosening.
If its stood for 20 yrs then I’d check all perishables like hoses, belts, exhaust rubber on exhaust. If its a stern drive then replace drive shaft and gear cable bellows and exhaust bellows as these will have hardened and will split. Also empty fuel system and fill with fresh and replace coolant.
Got it in the water , changed oils and fuel .
Only getting to 1800 revs any ideas ??
Only doing it under load ?Under load or in neutral?
I’ll check it nowIs the turbo spinning, easy to check with the engine off by removing the air filter..
Turbo is stuck !!! Where will I get 1 ?I’ll check it now
I’ll have a go over the next few days , thank you very muchIts probably rust on the exhaust side, if you take off the exhaust bend which you will have to anyway you might be able to carefully scrape away the rust from the housing where its jamming the exhaust turbine, its worth a shot before buying a bew turbo.
Started stripping it down and said I’ll just take it out of the water to sort it , built it back up , tapped it a few times with a hammer . To now I’ve done 20hrs and 130+miles , thank youI’ll have a go over the next few days , thank you very much
