Mercruiser d-tronic 2.8

Only recurring problem I have seen on these engines is the small pressure pipe from the inlet manfold to wastegate fractures, easy to replace.

Thanks , I’ll have a look at it the boat has been in a friends shed for nearly 20 years , have it fully serviced etc, ready for a sea trial in a couple of weeks .
Many thanks spanner man

If its stood for 20 yrs then I’d check all perishables like hoses, belts, exhaust rubber on exhaust. If its a stern drive then replace drive shaft and gear cable bellows and exhaust bellows as these will have hardened and will split. Also empty fuel system and fill with fresh and replace coolant.

Its probably rust on the exhaust side, if you take off the exhaust bend which you will have to anyway you might be able to carefully scrape away the rust from the housing where its jamming the exhaust turbine, its worth a shot before buying a bew turbo.
