Mercruiser/alpha 1 gen2 question

I've recently purchased a boat with a 5.0l Mercruiser with an Alpha one leg. It's been in the water for about 3 years with very little use. While the boat is still in the water, is there anything I can check and should it really come out of the water to check stuff before I start using it.

Hi Colin. I had a Sunline 31 with 2 Merc 1.7 diesels on Alfa 1 Gen 2 drives. I serviced mine every 2 years, based at Tewkesbury on the Severn, so the engines/drives had an easy life. Clearly the anodes, oil, seals etc should be regularly serviced. I found them great on the Sunline.

Check the oil to see if it is milky. Check propellors for damage and the prop centre bush. I have a new prop in my garage. Yours if it is suitable. Will check the size/pitch.
