Hi, can anyone advise what size stainless steel hose clip I need to reaffix an exhaust bellow that's slipped off the transom side of the sterndrive? many thanks
Sorry, I havent got the size. Just wanted to tell you what a bugger of a job it is. I spent a morning trying to do it. In the end took it to my local mercruiser guy and watched him sweat over it for nearly 2 hours.
Things I learnt:
1.Its easy to do with the leg removed, with the leg on its a git !
2.If you can't remove the leg, take the outdrive end off as well, fit the transom side then have a go at the outdrive side.
3 The leg needs moving a lot during the process, I found a 12 year old installed at the helm worked perfectly for this
4. There were a couple of specialist tools he used, but I suggest as a minimum you need at least a couple of very long, very thin screw drivers to push and prod the bellow and most importantly a small socket with a flexible drive coupling like this one.
5. Bostick, hes used this to lubricate the the bellow and then it helps it to stick when it dries.
