Mercruiser 5.0L Petrol Consumption

Anyone know what fuel consumption this engine would do cruising between 15-20 knots on a bayliner 245? 2006 model

I suspect you can cruise faster than 15-20 knots. My guess is about 10gph at about 25 knots.

clean & light when first launched and engine perfect - absolutely agree

mid season, out there enjoying life with a few friends on a less than mirror sea............I will put my money on 10gph (UK) @ 20 knots

how would Volvo D4 170hp or 260hp Diesel compare on a simmilar size boat?

Forgive me for mention my lot, but on our 24 (which has a deeper hull so does use a bit more fuel) the 190Hp D3 engine does about 1.3 miles per litre used once on the plane. At cruise of 25 knts it is using about 19 litres of diesel per hour, or just over 4 gallons.

I have a 25ft boat of similar weight and hull to the 2455 with a 240 yanmar diesel and get about 1.1mpl at 15 knots (7 gph @ 25 knots). mechanical older generation diesel so you could expect an improvement from new gen stuff like a D3/D4

I should have added the caviat of clean bum, neutral tide and a medium load.
