Hi folks
I have a Mercruiser 4.2 Dtronic 250bhp engine in a Marlin Rib. She’s been great but I decided to take her out in rough weather without checking my engine mounts. When the engine bracket broke the engine dropped a little and it cracked my throttle position sensor. Unfortunately the TPS is a Bosch TPS part number 0281002204. Bosch discontinued the production of this sensor in July 2017 and no one in the world seems to have one in stock. The sensor is a simple 3wire position sensor with a built in 2 wire low idle switch. Making this a 5 wire TPS. I assume the Low idle switch is for fault detection. I am trying to find out if I can make something to work, if you guys have any ideas I’d love to hear them, however if any of you out there have an old second hand sensor I would be a happy customer

Ring Tom Parker. Tompa marine. He’s a Mercruiser guru.

his website is out of date. He’s now at shamrock quay. Ring the marina if the website number doesn’t work.

I probably don't have enough posts or something because I can't open your profile/send PM. I'm looking for the same part number or a conversion from a similar one and maybe we can help each other. I'll follow this thread so please do reply

Is that the throttle potentiometer, or the TPS, the reason i ask the Bosch number is the potentiometer.
Please contact a Mercury Mercruiser dealer local to you, as both items are still available.

Potentiometer P/No: 854035
TPS P/No: 87-854109

The number you have for TPS is actually a crankshaft RPM sensor

The 854035 is shared on the 4 and 6 cyl D-tronics and NLA

hi folks, apologies for not replying. I got so crazy busy. Ended up purchasing 1 mercruiser had in stock in Belgium. Expensive but working ?

Anyone interested in a wear-free alternative for this TPS, contact me as I've developed a good solution.

To rephrase, I've engineered a permanent repair for the NLA sensor. So for anyone looking for this sensor; you can contact me for all the details. It's not cheap and you need to send the ECU to me as well but it works fantastically on both our engines for a long time now. Email is INFO [at] RDDE (dot) NL
