Hi All,
I have a 96 mercruiser 3.0lx, I've done the distributor, ht leads, ignition coil, and had the carb rebuilt.
She runs fine and gets on the plain nice and easy.
However.....
Today racing the tide she cut out at full throttle. No sputtering bogging down etc just went. I fired up the aux and started googling back in after about 5 mins she fired back up and ran well at full throttle all the way home. This is the first and only time this has happened.
She fires up first time, but when I'm sitting on the water she can be hard to start and if running idle she cuts out after 5-10 mins although this is infrequent. If I try pumping before firing she doesn't like that but will fire with the throttle in the 'home' position easily.
I'm not sure why but I've never trusted the clutch. I know the clutch is activated by it's own independent from how hot the engine is etc, could this be the cause or something else.
Ta!
