Merc, Mariner, Tohatsu 4 stroke 3.5 hp gear lever removal

Anybody about this neck of the woods had to change the gear lever on one of these? Understand it's six bolts to remove the power head first to gain access but just thought I would ask before delving in and learning from experience!

There are 7 bolts I think you will find. 1 at the front and 3 each side.

Exploded diagrams HERE should be useful.

I do not know if you will be able to do it without also removing the gear case. At least re-locating the water tube in the water pump might be tricky when you rebuild it
