Memory MapAdventurer 35000 GPS (Marine)

Seems sometime since this GPS/chartplotter was discussed/mentioned here and maybe there are lots more of you now that have some experience of this device, particularly the version pre-loaded with UKHO charts for use at sea.

I have a 32ft yacht which I use to potter about the west coast of Scotland. I fancy a handheld chartplotter and the price of this model is compelling.

Any advice, thoughts would be appreciated.

IMO, you'd be much better fitting a proper chart plotter. For similar money you could fit a Standard Horizon CP180i.

I recently reviewed the current offerings for Handheld plotters before purchasing. Memory map whilst offering the quantity of charts did not stack up operationally against other competitors and had some bad press from users.

I settled for a Garmin Montana because this could easily be linked to a pc. In my view any small HH is pretty useless for doing safe route planning on a tiny screen.
I also link it to a cheap notebook operating gps software. In my case I run Open CPN on linux. Free software and worldwide charts available.

Oh I had full approval from Swmbo because she can use it as a car sat nav.
