I installed memory map on my laptop, and have the 2014 marine charts. I activated it as per instructions, but when I try and open antares charts in memory map, it asks for activation. The activation window says I have no activation rights and need 1. Searching memory maps for antares gives me uk charts only. Anyone know how to find the licence for mem maps to work with antares?

I tried Memory Map for Anteres a couple of years back and found it such a palaver that I gave up, converted all the TIFFs to JPGs and just look at them with an image viewer. It's not as if I am going to trust GPS over my eyeballs in these places anyway. I have MXMariner on my tablet, but it uses a proprietary format and I haven't yet managed to get the beta converter to work on Antares.

When I bought the 2017 Antares charts I said in the survey that I used MXMariner and got a note back, verging on the snotty, telling me that I shouldn't. Meh..

JumbleDuck, how you use your Antares Charts is up to you. As you say the fact that also delivered as images means have this flexibility.

But equally, whilst I would not choose Memory Map over Navionics for general chart use, I have found that Memory Map works fine once set up with Antares Charts, UK Admiralty raster Charts and OS Survey Maps.
I have all three available on Windows 7 laptop, iPad and Android phone - though i find iPad much the best for using Antares in tricky locations, and phone best for OS maps when walking.

I'm having trouble getting Antares to operate on Memory Map my iPad

I have recently purchased the Antares package and have entered the activation code on MM. The "History" page of "My Licenses" on MM tells me I have "Antares" unused and available for activation.

When I go to "Map Licenses" in "settings on MM on my iPad there is no sign of Antares

Help...............please

I have, and have had for several years, Antares through Memory Map on an Android Tablet. Installation is just a case of blindly following the instructions. I also have as many BA Charts as I want, for about the cost of one paper chart.

Anatures charts are worth the effort - but Apple never makes things easy if not part of their standard proprietary world. As NormanS says, generally works fine if follow the Antares instructions precisely.

Did you manage to load the correct chart types via the (bizarre) iTunes Sync approach? Try opening Memory Map, choosing somewhere on the west coast of Scotland (e.g. Mull) and seeing what charts it offers at that location (using the little square "stack of charts" icon at bottom left of MM screen). Should offer you AC Selector Mull - Edition 4, amongst others.
If it doesnt, then probably not loaded the charts onto the iPad correctly, so go back to that stage (and curse iTunes/Apple for preventing a simple USB connection and file transfer). Redo the file transfer and Sync.
If the Selector chart does show try selecting that chart and it may ask you for your activation code then.

Don't have my instruction here, but may need to log into MemoryMap website using a web browser (not the App) to first activate the licence. Certainly worth doing if not done already.

Hope that works for you

Thanks for advice

No sign of the "AC selector" in the chart stack, and that's "looking" at a number of spots in Loch Sunart where I know there are Antares charts.

I downloaded the Antares so I have them on my laptop's hard drive and the MM website is acknowledging my purchase of the AC license.

I have tried deleting then reloading the MM app from both my phone and iPad and whilst "Digital Map Store" offers me the Admiralty package I have purchased there is no sign of the ACs

I have, in the past phoned MM for clarification about something, and found them very helpful and patient.

Ok it sounds like it is the getting the Antares files into the correct place on your iPad that may not have worked.

I don't have the instructions to hand but you should have the link to them with the install you did. Need to Re-sync the iPad via iTunes, go to the Apps bit, scroll down a heck of a lot and eventually find Memory Map App and the way of adding files to the App. Add the files then resync again, and repeat the hunt for the Chart Selector.

PS You don't buy Antares from the MM Digital Store (like you do the Admiralty and Os Maps), hence Antares would not show there, but need to do the iTunes file Sync rigmarole instead. MM may not be able to help, but Antares can if still stuck

Triumph!
I now have the ACs on both my iPhone and iPad
Nowhere on the MM website can I see how you get the "side by side" function.
Is this available for mobile devices?
Or, as I expect, am I being blind to simple digital solutions

I have had fun as well when setting up Antares, mainly on my Android tablet.

Here is some feedback I sent Bob Bradfield.

I had generated my own problems on the Tablet, as being conscious of filling up the internal memory of the tablet, I wanted to put all the chart files on the external SD card, with the MemoryMap program itself on the internal memory.

Problems on this one
Getting MemoryMap to see the files
If I use Solid Explorer and click on a chart file, then it does not come up with MemoryMap as a program option.
Doing the same in Myfiles, it does not recognise any application.
In ES File Explorer, it recognises Memory App and opens the file

Memory Map seemed initially not to find the charts, but I sort of followed the advice from

https://www.memory-map.co.uk/support/041755-Loading-maps-to-an-SD-card-on-Android

though finding the file path to the SD card took some finding. It now works, though I am not sure my trying to generate a text file was what actually solved the problem.

Commentary
CommentaryI could get the Commentary to open in File viewer, but not Offline Browser.
After reading many forum entries, I finally used

File:///storage/9C33-6BBD/AntaresCharts2017-CommentaryOnly/AntaresCharts2017_StartHere.htm

and this worked. It seems the file storage allocation will vary from how each tablet identifies the card, so you have to use ES File Explorer to find the actual memory designation.

I had similar problems on our Hudl 2 in getting Android to recognise the location of the Antares maps on the SD card. In the end, the only way I could get it to work was to manually edit the map_folders.txt file in the /Internal storage/Download/Memory-Map folder to include the folder on the SD card with the Antares charts in it:

/storage/sdcard1/Download/Memory-Map/Antares2017

It seems to have fixed the problem.
