Melamine cup stains ..Flash magic eraser

I was washing up and have run out of sponge scourers. I had been using a Flash Magic eraser (Melamine sponge) to get black scuffs off the gel coat, and generally tidy up scuffs around the cockpit and galley which it is really very good at and it was by the sink.
I picked it up and used it to clean my Melamine cups and amazingly with a bit of scrubbing all the brown tea and coffee stains came out. Now I know I'm going to get howls of protest about tea in china mugs .... Im braced for responses. So this tip is for those of you who prefer Melamine for weight and safety benefits.... no need for those brown stains.

Denture cleaner has been traditional for this use, but in reality, the only cure is to throw the nasty things away and use proper crockery, or at least the white glass stuff widely sold for the purpose. We were guests of someone on a medium-sized yacht a while ago which had sailed happily with bone china for forty years without ever breaking anything. Her jam waffles were rather good.

They work, but painting Formica with bleach and leaving for a short while works really well to.
