Sad to see that Mel Skeet, of the Granary Yacht Harbour, has died at the end of February. I knew Mel from over 40 years ago when he was sailing 'Curlew', an old clinker built ketch with an unreliable petrol inboard. A great character.

Sadly missed, always a gent and a decent bloke. His son Simon is one of the best diesel engineers on the East Coast.

How sad, I first met him years ago whilst working at Woolverstone Marina and he lived with Phil on an old Dutch barge with a single cylinder Bolinders semi diesel. I had my first boat with him at the granary.
