and I need another one.

Please see Wanted section

(It's been with me man and boy for over 30 years, but I do really need something a bit bigger. The cause is a minor explosion in the power switch caused by corrosion in the wires and connectors.)

Being something of a bodger, I'd try to replace the switch if indeed that is all that is wrong with it. Being slapdash, I'd probably stick any old switch in, but the proper "no-volt" safety switches are available. I have one at home I saved off a table saw whose motor went up in smoke, but unfortunately home is UK and I'm in Oz.

thanks for the offer Amulet. It really doesn't owe me anything at all, and is now gracing my recycle pile.

My first bandsaw was a Burgess BBS20 which did sterling service for many years till the screws that held the table pulled out and the table went all wonky. Since I was using it in a semi industrial application I thought I'd better get a proper professional one. I got a De Walt DW100 which has turned out to be a bit of a pain. The main thing was the blade guides which were made of plastic with the hardness and wear resistance of a wax pencil. Luckily I still had the blade guides from the BBS20 which are hardened steel wheels and which I was able to bodge into the DW100. I've also worn out 2 sets of pulleys but they're still available! Keep a spare!

May I suggest you hang on to the old one till you are happy with whatever you replace it with so you can resurrect it when you find the new one lacking...
