I've an elderly Megellen 310 GPS which keeps searching for fixes and occasionally picks up one or two satellites but but fails to get a fix.

Is this terminal or is there some magic button pressing that can give this a reset?

My 320 did these in the summer and i eventually gave up on it. dont think there is much you can do. I use mine for racing and a back up for the main set. so decided i should not risk having a set that occ picked up a position and bought a new one. A Garmin gps 60 very pleased with it.... these things are so cheap nowadays.

My sailing has been delayed - I now have a blocked sink to clear, so I'll go sailing after lunch.
Anyway, to reset a Magellan 310:
Make a note of all waypoints that you have entered as you are about to lose them.
Switch off.
Press and hold the right arrow.
Switch on.
A message will appear asking you if you want to delete memory.
Select yes.
I can't remember if you then need to switch off again, or if it will behave itself correctly from this point on.
Regards.

Pete,

Many thanks - it took about 10 minutes to boot up from cold but now working perfectly!

Without your help I'd have binned it!

Steve
