Rumour is that we will have to make do without the pier...its not ready :)

One feels bound to say that this really is not good enough. The Environment Agency has expended countless shekels on both the worthy Thames and the (almost as) worthy Medway to improve recreational access to two of our greatest rivers. It really is sad that the good burghers of Chatham cannot ensure that this facility is available given the rich historical maritime significance of the locale. Shame I say …….. why, even the hamlet of Walton - upon - Thames has managed to build a new bridge for you to admire when you visit this summer - and it might even be open on time, too !

Took a mate out on sunday for a potter, he was amazed when he asked where could he moor his boat for some beer and food ie visitors moorings for a narrow boat, i replied basically nowhere, rochester pier and chatham maritime which is pretty dear and er thats it!

Ahem, the pier is the resposibilty of Peel Ports, but our cash strapped local council has manage to wangle about 200K out of its budget to restore the pontoon.
Ps. The burgers in Chatham are normally to found lying in the gutter along with the discarded McDonalds containers.
