Medway Queen paddle steamer.

In '51 sailed aboard her from Herne Bay to Chatham and across to Southend and returned by the same route - Festival of Britain time, My home then was in Cheshire.

YEA! Someone older than me and Tony (boat 1)

If you look very carefully on the front of B1s boat you can see the original name of the boat has been overpainted with "Legacy".
Just discernable underneath is .......THE ARK....port of registery Mount Ararat.

Just a quick question, whats the difference between restoration and building a replica. By the pictures of the hull "rebuild" it looks like all new construction so is it a replica (with a few original fittings)

The original hull was condemned, and they have lottery funding for a replica. It's going to be as close as possible to the original - all riveted construction - with just a few minor modifications. The bad news about that is that, as I understand it, she is very unlikely to get a passenger certificate as a result.

I recently read that if a boat is rebuilt in the same space it is legally the same boat, even if not a scrap of the original is used.

The scuttlebut round here is that the owners of the creek that she was lying in,wanted her out at any cost and provided the dosh to get her shifted. When the old girl was moved she broke into three pieces and they got her on the barge and away as best they could.
After so many years of decay there was precious little to reuse.

I remember as a young lad sailing on her between Chatham and Sarfend....in fact one of my earliest memories is of seeing Fred adjusting the Grip Thribley as it got underway. :)
