Medway distance question ?

There be Dragons

About 200 years ago an ancient marinar called B1 did a passage plan for another olde salt called Suncoast.
He proclaims that it is 49 nautical miles from Tower bridge to Chatham.
Depending on your boat speed use of the tide is most sensible, with around say 4 hours down with the tide and around 2 hours up the Medway.
Try to arrive at the Swatchway around low water.
If you have a whizzy sports thing please ignore above.

Anyone got an aprox' distance from say London Bridge to Gillingham
Use Google earth and its "ruler" and you can easily measure it.
I make it 49 nautical miles from T. Bridge to Gillingham marina

According to my logbook entries, 43nm from St Kats to Chatham. Lovely little run, you may find it ends rather quickly if you like being out there and the weather is nice.. if you feel like it (I did last time) hang a left when you get to the medway buoyed channel and take a gander at the WW2 forts.. easy to navigate, just follow the buoys!

London to Medway

Anyone got an aprox' distance from say London Bridge to Gillingham / Chatham ?

Any tips or traps ?

Thanks

I did this trip a few weeks ago.

Not sure where you were planning to start from but we did the trip downriver from Teddington Lock leaving at HW at 09.30 and arrived at Chatham Maritime Marina c16.15

On the way back we left Chatham at 07.30 and arrived back at Teddington Lock at 14.15 which was exactly HW.

Chatham has at least 1 metre over the sill at just about any LW so works well as destination if you are coming down river on the tide.
