Med Piracy

having spent a long time in the med (20years+) things have changed. the mosques always played us as the problem rather than risk their own gov. rath Only Turkey was good muslim state.
More than 20years ago Iran told all muslims to have childern to increes the muslim population. It worked woman have 15+childern, unmarried sisters over 20 are fair game as well(woman are just classed lower than cattle) now as there are no schools or infastructuer to support the masses even Iran is overwhelmed, and encourages emigration
As for pirate the fisher people are normaly very ok it those that steal their fishing boats and want to come to Europe---one muslim in corsica--- he told the farmer that next time he came he would bring a gun a kill his victims---before he was sent to aplace where he would be fed well paid £500 pm and then sent first class to England as he was a refugee

If you have a gun on board be very carful never go into african ports--even if you decare your guns you will face very real problems. and in Europe a lot of paper work. if you dont declare them woww

I do agree shoot the buggers, albainians dont steel from boats in corfu why becouse they know the Greeks aply the justice they understand--and Italys not to far

I was attacked and robbed by pirates - details on my web site - but I honestly think it is madness to carry arms or resist unless you can out gun them ( in my case about 12 -14 armed with AK47s and machine pistols) you are prepared to open fire first - you do not mind killing people who may want to rob you - take your valuables but do not particulaly want to inflict injury on you.

If you kill someone who is only threating you - it is likely you will go to prison for a very long time -

If you open fire on people who appear threating - fishermen or what ever - you may well be sentanced to execution by the local legal system.

Can you be sure you can out gun the pirates - are a more experienced in handling your weapons. Let me assure you the pirates who attacked me were very good. I watched one replace a magazine which got knocked out of his AK without taking his eyes off me and the gun never stopping to be aimed at me - I assume there was one up the spout.

I believe fear of the serious consequences ( by which I do not mean a slapped wrist ) of crime perpetuates less crime.
Crime rates in parts of the world where the consequences are serious to the offender are very low.
I have friends who live in the States who have worked hard, done well and live in enviable properties, they, and all their neighbours have firearms in the house, and the criminals know that if they attempt to steal from them they risk being shot, the result is an almost negligble incidence of burgalry, it is a deterrent taken very seriously by would be theives.
I for one will do all in my power to disable an intruder whether at home or on my boat, whether it's 'reasonable force' or not.
