Some peeps on this forum think it would be a good idea to have a separate forum for Med based boaters to post on specifically Med based issues and experiences. This would be open to yotties and stinkpotters alike. To guage what sort of interest there might be would forumites like to vote below

I voted no. I'm generally not in favour of salami slicing the forums. It's too much hard work looking at multiple forums when you're supposed to be doing some work too. So I'd like to leave it all jumbled up. Anyway, most issues are boat related and not specific to a location, with the obvious exception of your charter rant, Deleted User :-)

i voted maybe as I am not convinced

cause then the sailing type would also want a seperate forum

we should have an MB section that opens like it does now
but when you click you have other menus and options
like med based, new boats etc
I think like this it would be a good idea IMO

That's no different in operation to having separate forums, and would mean that people can't just read threads in order using previous/next buttons, which would make reading many separate mobo forums slow and time consuming

I voted No but maybe my vote dont count as I am not Med based however we do spend a lot of time in Mallorca.

The reason I voted is that personally I tend to stick to the one forum and I would miss some brilliant posts and pics from the Med.

No, the forums are broken up far to much already. The silly Thames and Bristol Channel forums want scrapping.

There are other forums for meeting and special issues .

I think I'll have an HLB forum and talk to myself all night. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Now i'll vote for an HLB only forum /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif and perhaps combine it with the GC1 forum /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I agree with you. The forums are becoming increasingly fragmented. Still such is life. We will be a plural society before long!

I have to say I voted no, mainly for reasons already given by the others. My boating is in the UK but I enjoy reading others experiences and mishaps where ever they are. Also mentioned and this is probably covering all of us, we are supposed to be at work during the day and having to swop from one forum to another will only delay the work further - true or not??

my thoughts were in favour, not particularly to split anything up,but there are so many new areas such as turkey, the North African Coast, italy, croatia etc, and all the comments, information and costs we get from time to time get lost in obselete threads.

To have a seperate forum is no more than collating information in one place on med alternates, as to be honest the Balearics are getting a little crowded to stay the least.

For example peeps say that Croatia is great, costs are low,so it would be nice to have a good thread that can be found and reffered to and built on. This would apply to charters and generally everyone who is thinking of or has experiance of an alternate med to the well known places.

Martyn i'll do a Croatia post soon. Had a great time there, and have LOADS of pix! (I just need to photoshop some clothes back onto the crew /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif!)

I voted 'No' too. I like to hear about the Med experiences but would not bother to look into another forum.

I was slow to pick up on your recent rant but that was one of the best threads recently and extremely entertaining.

I loved 'Wiggo's' offer to raft up if the anchorage was crowded.

I hadn't put you done as a troll freak but these last two posts are pretty good material. Did GC1 write your script?

btw. That other 'Rattus' character is nothing to do with me he's just a 'WUM' from Sparkes! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Mart I think You have a basis of a good Idea ref a Travel thread/ Forum.
There does seem to be too many "Dormant" Forai.
So what? One might add.
But why? another might add.
Don't irritate Me I add.
Cept I think the Thames one should be below the Lounge, cos I keep clicking on the Old Father by mistake!

"I keep My boat outside the UK "Forum and all it entails.
Type of thing.
Combined with I charter lots outside the Uk.

Or The World Wide Forum.
Cos if yer looks at it, We have quite a few of our Colonial friends popping in on ere.
Imagine the "Where is it's " from Lake Tahoe (be better than Lakey's!"), Woolongong? "That's a piccie of a fast speedboat Sheila, but there aint no boat in there cos it's Well ong gone!"
Photopost from the St Tropez mob, "Here is My latest 40 kt 25 ft Tender too, with accompanying Tottey, oops sorry technical detail."

And from "Most places outside the Uk Forum-"--- "Jeez the weather has been so perfect for Motor Boating we have done at least 700 hours this Year.
I,m glad the fuel has been reduced.
We can upgrade to a larger boat with better air con!"

Imagine the end of Season Med Forum bash (Oops, sorry there aint no End Of Season , it's Year round boating, sorry I forgot) "Let's make a Barby and burn our Tidal flow Atlas thinghy's, cos there aint none!"
Nah, there's too many already.
Some time ago I used to have a "Classic Boat."
Well it was made of wood and My garden suffered.
I wanted to be" A Liveaboared "once but SWMBO wanted to as well, so that put paid to that!
Pratical Boat Owner.
Well that's a misnomer anyway
Cos if One was Practical One wouldn't own a boat!
Condensing to Motor Boat Forum
For sale
Wanted
FAQ
would be enough.
Plus
Scuttle Butt
For anything else and Porn.
And Lakey's Pictures and a GC1 comeback and Brendan and Hlb and T25 (well He,d fit in anywhere now He is Slim apparently) and suzzywhosehewhoozy and the skipper with the tight supergirl clothes and sword waving types and others with agitated avatars and newbies ready for slaughtering and COL REGS and other%ANCHORS!

On the other hand.
I think there should be a North Wales (Welsh speaking obviously) Forum.
There's at least three of that I know of.
Anyway this Post is dragging on a bit.
Gotta go, just thought of summat for the 06 Pantomime Forum! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Ok ok...lets put the question the other way around.

If I wanted to go somewhere else in the med, I would have to put a post up in the forum, but I would only get details from some of the people some of the time who were around at the time.

It would soon get lost in teh forum backposts, and to try and search on it would take ages.

If we had an area that was dedicated to 'areas' ie a forum that was for posting and building on alternate locations to take your boat (not just the Med, perhaps further afield as well) then a couple of threads could hold everything you ever wanted to know about (for example) croatia, posted by people who had been there or had boats there, warts and all. There is no single point anywhere else where this information can be found at present.

A good example is perhaps JFM, we can have a great post in our standard forum on croatia (once he gets clothes back on all the people ;-) ) but a few technical details in another forum could cover good/bad bits, upsides and downsides, costs, locations, telephone numbers and web addresses. Stick in that some raggie comments as well and you would have probably the best single and most informed resource on the web - great when you are figuring where to charter.

I hadnt seen the new area as somewhere to post med type 'posts' stories and debates that currently belong in the normal forum.

Just my thoughts.
