Oki, so I am a bit concerned about getting this wrong so just looking for some guidance/clarification. I have downloaded the Manual for the Furlex B and measured the length of my old 6mm hanked forestay at 11.48m eye to eye.

The manual mentions to deduct the lower wire terminal for 6mm at 70cm. Do I need to do this for my old forestay or just forestays with a certain type of terminal.

After this point the manual makes no mention of the actual cutting so can I just cut the new wire at the length minus the 70cm as stated and then it will fit.

The measurment i center center
it says 70mm, that is the correct value if you don’t need to raise the drum with extra toggles.

Are you reusing the old stay?
The wire has to be cut to length and then the integrated screw terminal is added.
You shorten the stay to get the same total length as before.

when you come to the section “fit the wire terminal” they assume the wire is cut to length.

The aim is to make up the new assembly so that the dimension FL shown on page 5 is the same as the existing forestay including any bottle screws.

It appears that the new wire is supplied with the top fitting already fitted. It is cut, measuring from the centre of the eye in the top fitting so that it is 70mm ( for 6mm wire) less than FL. The new bottom fitting makes up the 70mm.

If you wish to raise the drum you do so by adding additional toggles at the bottom, shortening the wire further ( by H) for each toggle.
