You lot are going to get peeeed off with me using Motor Boat forum as a Haynes Manual,

Volvo Penta V8 onto a Duo prop drive......

Cant see for the life of me how to remove the shaft out of that bellhousong/Flywheel cover I managed to split from the Engine last week.

Cant see any type of circlip or anything retaining like.

Any one have the knowledge?

Hi (Once again)

Looking into the end of the driveshaft that the outdrive would slide onto you will see a seal, you need to remove it, under that you will see the circlip that needs to be removed. Then you will (should) be able to extract the drive shaft.
I await your next question - only joking.

Hi again, cheers for that.I knew there had to be something.

When i took the bellhousing off I had to try to free off the Engine[was seized]so I could get to the bolts holding the flexplate to the flywheel, through the starter hole.
I freed it and it became quite loose and could feel the compresion there.I was scrapping the engine and going the gm based route.
I got it in my head that perhaps the engine wasnt damaged inside So ...... I hooked up a battery and a few bodged wires later and a hose pipe It started and ran a beaut. So just saved myself £5k or so.I have already brought a freeze cracked 1 year old 5.7 GXI efi bobtail engine complete with all ancillaries so that will fund the major service for this 5.8 efi Ford based engine.Result.

Cheers for the pointers. I know my American V8s as I have had a few both Big Block Dodge and SB Chevy ,but it is the little marinised bits of it I have never done before.
