Recently arrived in QAB and put on the visitors pontoon to sit out some weather. Be aware there is a huge amount of debris in the water and it trashed our bow thruster whilst trying to moor up. After a few days, we noticed it's the same chunks of wood, plastic & bags that floats around, trapped by the sea wall. I suggested to MDL they might want to fish it out on a regular basis but they didn't seem interested (otherwise very helpful friendly staff).

Caution if coming alongside on the A (visitors) pontoon and avoid use of your bow thruster if you can. Ours needs a new flexible coupling now.

I was there recently in company with another boat. It's a good place but the other boat was in the visitor area by the sea wall and moved a lot with the swell coming through the wall. I was elsewhere in the marina in a resident's berth (vacant, and I am trying to avoid writing "vacant resident") and there was no swell at all. Also, there wasn't any build up in the visitors area at the time. The recent strong winds must have made a big difference.
