Just seen on Facebook Solent group. MDL are doing piling work at Mercury Yacht Harbour and as well as dumping all this soot on my boat, clearly don't bother to service their vessels nor care about the environment!

I wonder if somebody has adjusted the injector pump to "winter" - my old CASE smokes like that if I do (in warm weather).

At they were doing something related to the actual marina rather than building new lodges or what not

On the solent facebook group it shows the smoke coming from the pile being removed. No answer as to why it is smoking, apart from that it is an old oil pipeline.

If the pile is smoking, it was contaminated when installed, or perhaps subsequently filled with some sort of anticorrosive (I've seen old sump oil poured into similar steel "voids" before now.). Set light by welding/burning or similar?
Are we sure it's not the barges old crawler crane that's smoking?

The smoke was coming from the top of the pile in the clip I saw.
