Just a quick message to say we enjoyed the Marina party at Bray on saturday.
Thanks to Mike Gates and his staff for a good night.
Only downside was that the following day was a perfect day for going out on the boat, but the other halves hangover put a stop to those plans.

Just to say that Mikey Gates was manning the stand at the boatshow next day (we know as we chatted with him there) despite probably having a sore head himself.

Thats what I call dedication to the cause!!

I would like to add:

1/ A few thanks to the hierachy (That sounds abit callous in hindsight, I meant 'Commodore and team') at BCC for their never-ending efforts to make members welcome and comfy.
A fantastic job as always...

2/ Mike and the MDL staff for an impressive banquet, great soundtrack, and lovely presentation, in addition to an impeccably run Marina!

3/ The guests for their effervescance and obvious enjoyment at the wonderful event which was presented to us.

4/ The gods, and the lockies, for some excellent boating weather/ conditions during our delightful trip up to Coookham and back on Sunday.

A right old result!

A good night indeed.

I picked up my free boat show tickets, courtesy of Inlandnewbie, thanks again Chris. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Then won a free lift out and scrub at Penton Hook, courtesy of MDL, thanks Mike. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Was hoping the lottery would make it three wins in a row but alas not. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Still boat show on Monday was a good day out, didn't have much we were looking to buy, so only spent £200! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Had a wander around a Princess 21m and Ms DogsBody fell in love - had to explain to her that it wouldn't fit under the bridges on the Thames, so no good to us - a temporary reprieve for my wallet at best.

Had to ask the nice Princess staff to please let me out of the crew cabin after I'd had a look down there, I guess she (correctly) surmised that, baring a lottery win, it was the only cabin on that boat I had any chance of occupying on a regular basis.

Was supposed to be setting off upriver yesterday but the boat had other ideas - one drive stuck in reverse gear. Now waiting for the engineer to call and let me know whats wrong, hope its what he thinks it is - a broken cable - as that sounds easy and quick to fix.

So sunny weather and I'm stuck at home waiting for the boat to be fixed, guess my good luck has run out... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Ah but did he tell you he left the party very early to make sure he was not only at Southampton in time for the show but awake and not hungover too?

Leaving a party early to make sure you're fit for work the next day, now thats dedication!

Well I guess my luck is not all bad as the local engineer fixed the boat yesterday (well done Terry) and I've just had a lovely sunny day cruising up to Henley.
