Since my boats been out of the water for the winter I have noticed that the prop shaft has become stiff to turn. Any suggestions what might be the problem?
Are you sure the gearbox is in neutral ? You can check that by lifting the decompression lever, turning the engine by hand on the flywheel and checking whether the pro shaft moves or not

If the boat is supported ashore, sometimes they bend a bit, and then all the engine, shaft, sterngear etc is slightly out of line. If this is what has happened it wil all bend back when it goues in the water.
I hope you have better luck than me - I had the same problem and it turned out to be a bent prop shaft! Also I had been using the wrong grease (Castrol LM) and it had gone glue like in the shaft tube, creating loads of resistance to turning. Try checking your grease.
Almost certainly the cutless bearing that has dried out. Major engineering problems like bent shafts and seized gearboxes don't occur when the boat is on the hard. If I need to rotate the shaft with the boat on the hard I squirt some washing-up liquid on the bearing. This is OK for hand turning but if you run the engine play a hose on the cutless.
