Hi,
As you know i had some engine problems, i did see the control panel display an error code at one point. (the small lcd in the rev counter)

I have a workshop manual but i can't find a list of error codes. where can i get this?
I dont remember the exact error code, but i hoping looking thru them will help me!

cheers

simon

Ther are no 'error codes' from the engine via the rev counter as the 2020 engine has no monitoring system. The only codes displayed are codes to identify which engine is on the other end of the harness, i,e, petrol, diesel, 3,4,6,8,cyl. And there is a fine tuning adjustment for the rev counter, but we never used it in the trade.

the code came up when the engine was starved from fuel, say water/air still to be found out.
Could this trick the control panel in thinking it has the wrong engine attached?

spannerman is right... That tacho picks up its 'reading' on the 2010-2040 from the W terminal on the alternator, the code for the 2010-2040 is 5, which would display on the LCD screen as Cd5.

The engine has no monitoring system.

It can't 'trick the engine' as its only a simple rev counter which counts the pulses from either the alternator or ignition coil. I suggest you recode it, on the back of the rev counter you will find a small 1/16" hole to the right of the main connecter if I remember, push a long split pin or pop rivet into the hole and you will feel a click as you depress a button, HOLD it depressed while you turn on the ignition, and then release the pin when CODE appears in the LCD window.
If its already on 5 as 'Funsize' says then remove the split pin wait 10 secs and turn off the Ignition. If there is no number or its other than 5 then repeatedly press the pin til '5' appears, don't worry if you go past it keep clicking and it will come round again after cycling through all of the different codes. Stop at '5' remove pin wait 10 secs, and turn off ignition, the code is now set for a 2020.
