Thanks for all the info on overheating engines and possible solutions. Now another question.
My rev counter has never worked and I dont know if its the meter or the sender unit thats at fault. Does anybody know how these things work and how to check them out without buying new?

Gosh, never had a rev counter on either of the two MD2's that have graced my boat!

In fact, have only now got the oil pressure gauge working!

I would suspect the wiring first.

The rev counter sender and not the tachometer usually fails and more often than not it is damaged terminals.

The sender is mounted above the camshaft gears on the rear of the engine and has two spade terminals It should show an internal resistance.

I have had one fail internally and others the connections have failed...If contemplating a new one then start saving /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
