Ideally I would have liked to post a video here of my Volvo MD 2 running again after replacing broken pushrods but I can not seem to do it. Any advice welcome.

Thanks to advice and comments from forumites. And no I have still not found the cause, I will have to keep an eye on oil at the top end etc. At least it is running again.

I have white smoke, (it was there before as well) Injectors checked. They told me it was timing too retarded. There is a way to check it if you have the correct volvo tool which I do not. Failing that I was going to try and remove gaskets from the injector to adjust it until it improves. The question is to retard the timing should I add or remove gaskets. My feeliing is to remove them.

Or could it be another problem, perhaps with the injector.

white smoke is normally an indication of water, the pump timing would either give you lack of power or black smoke ,it might be wise to check your waterways first,
the injector would normally give you poor starting /black smoke if it was worn due the fuel not atomising and possibly lack of power ,poor starting if they were blocked.

I have seen white smoke, but a lot. Halfe of the marina was coverd... It was caused by a defect injection pump (Corrusion inside). Another time the cause was a blocked fuelfilter. (Air / Fuel wrong mix)

You mean like this?

I think if you do a search on the forumite 'Dogwatch' he has a step by step procedure. Otherwise just load the video clip to a site like Photobucket and copy and paste the image URL to here.

Cardinals may have more idea than me. Thats the trouble with working on your todd. You have to do all the thinking yourself - well until you can get on the forum that is.

Orizaba I ruddy well hope it is not water having just rebuilt the thing with new gaskets. The injector checking man said timing straight away. White smoke is unburnt diesel ( black smoke not enough air). Timing should be simple to do. Just want to adjust it the right way. I will have to take the injector cover off any way so will see what that looks like. Injector did say it could be a sticking piston in the pump. The engine was idle for a long time before I bought it.
