MD11c MSB Gearbox What alternatives are available

Tested the gearbox without the Morse cables to try and figure out the Non selecting neutral issue. May look at an exchange gearbox and understand other gearboxes will fit the MD11c besides the MSB but does anyone know which ones

Is this the g/b that that the shaft moves fore & aft and the prop drive keeps the clutches engaged?
If so, I had a go at one that would not find neutral. On stripping, there did not appear to be any slack point between the engagement of the friction cones and no adjustement. I finally fitted some shims to give it a 'no drive' area and it has been OK since.

There is a selector in the form of a wedge which keeps the cone from engaging
If it the neutral position is not adjusted correctly then it wears and allows the cone which has a groove to engage .
From memory it may be possible to increase the shims to compensate for wear but suggest best to check with WS manual.
Be aware that whilst the M.D. 5&7 use the same basic gear box the front housing may be different!
Have a look at the online Volvo parts list which will show the gearbox options and an answer to your question any superseding gearbox replacing the original
