Has anyone tried this on a propeller?

I have tried nearly everything over the years, Lanoline,
Propshield, Hempel even copper grease!

Weed and barnacles loved them all!

But apparently they don't like lemons
and this claims to be the latest snake oil,
already I'm in! But has anyone actually tried it
or shall I be the Guinea Pig?

Sorry to be a party pooper but have you tried Trilux 33?

It seems to work very well in the Med.

Last year I polished my prop then, every time I thought about it, I gave it a spray with dry silicone lubricant. It probably had 20 - 30 coats all told.
Not one of my most successful experiments...

Back to Trilux this year.

There are several Mclube products, the best known probably being SailKote

Presumably though you are thinking of "Antifoul Alternative Speed Polish"

According to the Sail magazine video effective for short term use for racing or dry stored boats

I suspect for long term use, ie on a boat afloat for the whole season, it will be useless

Mine looked like that after copper grease and lanolin!

I have a brand new folding prop and figured that to keep it as slippery as possible might do the trick!
Has anyone tried varnish/lacquer?

If not will try Trilux with heavy heart!

Anyone know what would happen if you copper coated a prop? My first guess is that it would be quite effective, but not really heard of anyone doing it so I wonder if there are any specific reasons why not.

The manufacturers say it will not adhere to a propeller. I have found Hammerite special metals primer to work very well on propellers and P-brackets but it is normally not possible to apply epoxy over conventional paint. I did try it on a P-bracket and it didn't stick but the Coppercoat was almost dead when I put it on, so no blame attached.

On the advice of Bruntons, I do not antifoul my prop. However, as my boat gets launched a month before I get to use it I smother it with a thick layer of grease - I do not think weed etc like grease much. However, after that I tend to use the boat a lot & sail between 1500 & 2000 a year so the grease comes off but constant use seems to work Ok. When the boat comes out there is just a thin layer of dirt which come off with brick cleaner in 20 mins or so
