Those river registration figures are far better than I would have thought.
A drop of only 10% (ish) over a decade containing the worst ever world financial slump is pretty good going in my book.
"EA boat registrations have remained relatively static in the past decade, the agency adds, with 14,027 registered last year compared with 13,771 in 2003."
Either shows just how immune the Thames corridor was from the rest of UK Plc. or that the money people pay to keep their boat on the Thames represents an absolute bargain and therefore attracts boaters from outside the area who cannot believe what they can get for their money. ?
Those figures are for EA nationally so include Thames (approx. 9,000 private powered) Anglian (Great Ouse, Stour, Nene etc), and the Medway. Also they will be figures for boats actually registered - who knows how many escaped the net?
