Well what a good issue this one is.

Over 200 pages, loads of good editorial content, lots of adverts, even including nav gear again (must be a boat show soon I guess!).

I'm sure Hugo and the team didn't react that quickly to some of the recent forum suggestions, so they must have been heading in the right direction all along.

Nothing like a good 3-way comparison test on £50K 25 footers, fitting diesel heaters, even the letters page was very topical for me, having recently moved my boat the York, and seen first hand all the rubbish and speeders on the river.

It's an interesting point, the speeding at York, and I quite agree, having also cruised the Trent/Fossdyke many times, you don't see it as much (if at all) there.

Perhaps all the little hire 'speedboats' and a few ribs that cruise up and down at near planing speeds encourage all the 40 footers to put on the gas?

Any downsides in the new mag, well I also miss the regional sections, even though the same type content maybe there somewhere. Somehow it gave you a bit more identity when you don't live amongst the boating hot spots.

The local news would be an area that could be covered in more depth but the Team can only go on what they are given - I guess they're not given much that is news worthy ?

Maybe they could look to prod any region reporters they have ?

Yes Martyn,

Personally i thought it was a good issue. The test on the 3 £50k boats was v.good, my copy arrived in the post yesterday while i was at work, And my wife phoned me to say it had arrived and that she had read the test, and prefered the Monterey, and she said its that nice man on the cover driving it that we spoke to last year at the Boat Show, Oh Really says I, We don't need a new boat. We've just got one.

Anyway i also miss the Local News, but as said there were plenty of snipets about my area, scatered through-out the mag. I'm not too sure about the New Boat Guide, Good as it is, But maybe not required every month, Or Do as car mag have, everyone itemized, but with no pictures. Taking up less pages.

Anyhoo, Great Mag.
Keep up the good work MBM.

Cheers..

Alistair..

Glad you liked it. After 9 months in the job I finally feel I'm getting a handle on what you like and don't like. Expect more of the same in 2004.

Happy Christmas
