Hi Piers, Jezbanks and Barry. My wife (Heather) and I will be joining the cruise - that is we will if our boat is ready in time. We did a Day Skipper course with Sun Coast last September to see how we got on with boating, then eventually purchased a Sealine 350 Statesman towards end of December. Signed up for this cruise as novice channel crossers early in the year thinking there would be loads of time to practice. But engineering work on the boat has been held up by the boatyard's apparent disorganisation and an electrical fault that now seems to have developed, so here we are a week and a half before the event and we've only had one days instruction on her - and that was mainly handling within the marina! So getting distincly nervous now, but at least we're promised the boat will be ready by end of this week!

So anyone on the cruise probably needs to keep their distance until we have it sussed.

Looking forward to meeting up with anyone who's going, and getting loads of practical advice.

By the way Jez, the blurb that came from MBM says that ICC is not required, so maybe you can reconsider?

We were in Cherbourg last Thursday having diverted there on Tuesday due to poor conditions on passage from Portsmouth to St.Peter Port.

Just to let you know we were inspected by customs with 6 officers coming on board.
SSR registery doc went down well as did passports. They questioned my son seperately from me and compared answers about our activities. All very cordial. All went well and they did not commence a search. Asked age of boat but did not ask for invoice re Vat. Asked if we had in excess of £7k cash on board, much merriment when I said if we found it we could share it. Other boats warned us they had been checked when we arrived and in their case Vat invoice inspected.

Please check your crews have their docs as it would spoil the event if people had difficulties.

Interestingly the marina still had us on the computer from the MBM cruise 3 years ago!

I notice your pictures of us still get trotted out for Targa 33 info.

All the best

Tim
