I posted elsewhere about an intermittent ST60 compass fault I've had for a few years. The ST 60 heading display reading started sticking as did the data on the bus. Yesterday the fault became permanent and I was able to track it down to a faulty sea talk connection. As the ST60 compass will work as a stand alone unit I don't understand how a faulty Seatalk connection could cause the reading to stick. Is there some sort of hand shaking on the data bus that would have caused this. It's in a loop with 6 other instruments powered from both ends. I would really like to understand what is going on.
