I leaving port Solent on Monday 7th May for a trip where I need to be back in the Marina for around 4pm.

Ideally I would leave around LW during these neaps.

I had some ideas about where to go but as far as I can see I’ve got wind coming From the East against tidal streams moving From the West creating a bit of an issue with my original ideas of visiting Totland Bay and anchoring for the day.

Am I imagining it or are those protected anchorages going to be a b**tard to get to even during neap tides and good sea conditions?

If so, what would you recommend instead, as at the moment I have surmised that anchoring on the east side of the IoW will be a windy and blowy affair?

Go up Beaulieu River and pick up a bouy..if you go up past Bucklers Hard and pick up a bouy there it will be like a millpond and nothing but silence.

Totland bay a good shout in Easterlys use your depth sounder although you can usually see the bottom, Mill pond in the bay. Your boat will eat the sea conditions on return journey
