I have several programs installed on my vista laptop which predate vista by years.
It could be worth right clicking the install exe file and choosing to install in XP compatability mode. This has worked for me with Quicken and the Complete Course when the normal installation failed.
Actually Dell is about the only place you can still buy XP - I know because we buy them for my business.
You probably need to go into the site under small business, then when you get to customise, look in the OS choices and you'll see:
Genuine Windows® Vista™ Business with XP Pro installed and Vista Media - English [add £60.00]
The idea is they install XP now but it comes with Vista too - though costs more. Don't have more details as the techies sort it out. How long they will hold out under pressure from Microsoft I don't know, nor whether this applies outside the UK.
Failing that, why not buy a recent used XP laptop on Ebay? Personally, having trialled Vista on several machines, I'd stick to XP as long as possible.
Don't know where all the negative opinions are coming from. As I type this I have Maxsea version 10.1.3.2 open and running on my laptop with Windows Vista.
Of course, no-one told me it wouldn't work with Vista so, in my ignorance I just installed it and used it.
