Of the seemingly dozens of designs we consider, one that I like (and for aesthetic reasons she doesn't) is the old Maxi 95. It's a design that bought a lot of new ideas to the production market, including the engine being housed within the saloon table, but one that sticks out is the lack of a chart table. Given the distain caused by Hallberg Rassy doing the same with a similiar sized boat thirty years later, I was wondering if the older hands recalled whether this caused so much controversy at the time and whether Maxi owners past and present had suffered from the lack of a table?

(FWIW I would retro fit a fold down if I did buy one of these boats, which I probably wont).

When sailing to Bornholm and Sweden in companion with a friend in his Maxi 95 he always did his chartwork on the cabin table (none of us have a chartplotter). He never bothered about installing one, but admits to liking the one in my Contessa 35.
It is BU..UGLY, though (IMHO)
