Max Power CT35 Bow Thruster

The bowthruster on my Antares 8.8 isn't working and no matter what Kawasaki tells me, I really do need it!

The motor is working fine but the propeller isn't spinning. I find it unlikely that the prop has fallen off but that is how it feels, can the prop slip if it is fouled and let the motor spin so as not damage the motor internals? Parts are cheap for the thruster but a lift in and out isn't.

Does anybody have experience of problems with these thrusters as info on the net is sparse?

Any help much appreciated!

Sounds like the drive pin or key has sheared, would give exactly your symptoms.

That's what I think to be honest, was kind of hoping it would fix itself but I think a quick lift out is required.

Before lifting out i would remove motor and check pin is ok.

Sorry, see what you mean, thought you meant the pin holding the prop. It's only two bolts to remove the motor

Removed the motor today, drive pin and spring fine. I've either lost the prop or the leg is nackered. The leg itself is turning smoothly and quietly with a little resistance so I'm thinking it's the prop.

Any body got an underwater camera I can borrow in North Wales/Lancashire?!

Very true! Thought about jumping in today for a quick look. Decided against it mainly due to the boat coming out either way on Tuesday. Also, there are loads of jellyfish in the marina, anybody else noticed this?

With regard to the boat coming out Tuesday, if it is the leg it would be a couple of days before before I can get it swapped. I'm sure I've read it here that antifoul 'goes off', is this true?

indeed true, but after about 8 weeks

That's good news, had it in my head it was a fortnight
