I bought a new Matsutec Transponder but unfortunately it is only marginally receiving and not transponding at all. Any suggestions? I have tried it in a friends yacht who has a similar one but it is obviously faulty. Is there anybody in U.K. or Ireland who might attempt a repair?

Just a thought. Matsutec sell their kit in two versions, receiver only and transponder. The transponder usually has an ’A‘ suffix To differentiate it. Ive seen a number of ads for Matsutec selling a transponder which on closer checking turns out to be a receive only unit:hence the cheaper price.
As to what to do to get it fixed, then given its brand new I’d be seeking either repair, replacement or refund from the seller.

Thanks for your comments. Unfortunately I bought it last November when the boat was in dry dock and with Covid I only got to fit it now. Bought on ebay it is outside the returns date now.

I could check the Data Stream of the NMEA Signal. Matsutec is a bit tricky to handle.
Never the less, i live in Germany and i think the cost of of sending the Transponder will be to high.
I have the same and after many hours it worked for me.

Surely ebay cannot deny your rights under consumer law, though I don't recollect how long you have to declare purchased goods to be faulty...

I've almost stopped buying things on eBay, because their terms and conditions keep changing, usually to the detriment of the buyer.

Thanks for your inputs. I actually got a local electronic engineer to have a look at it and he found a problem which appears to have fixed it. However the alarm it gives regarding oncoming traffic is only a short buzz. Little use if trying to get some sleep on a long voyage sailing solo. Is there any setting which maintains the alarm on till turned off manually?
