I've asked before about my HP-33A's curious behaviour: it starts up when power is supplied and can only be switched off for about a second before it restarts.
It has now started going through periods of warning "No GPS Fix". Sometimes it still shows 12 satellites in which case it recovers rapidly after a few minutes; sometime it shows no satellites and takes an hour to find some, which suggests that its ephemeris data is disappearing.
It also has a disconcerting tendency to show speeds of 5 -10kts when I am tied up.
Anyone else had, and, more important, solved this sort of problem? I have completely failed to get up-to-date firmware out of Matsutec, so if anyone more convincing could send me a copy I could try an update to see what happens. Otherwise I fear I need a new one. I like it enough to give it one more go.
