We have just installed a matsutec ha 102
Running it in nmea hs on our Garmin plotter

so far we can see other targets but not coming up on marine traffic event though I have left it on for an hour
Does anyone know how to confirm that it’s sending? Slight issue is we are in the yard at the moment so can’t get others to see if they can see us as we are very surrounded!

thoughts?
( please not” you should have bought a 800quid garmin unit”)

As has been said many time on here, Marine Traffic and similar sites are poor indicators of whether your AIS is functional or not. If you’re getting good reception then you’re almost certainly getting good transmission. You’ll have to wait until you’re moving and within range of a Marine Traffic base station before you’ll appear on the site. To check out your own AIS transmission before then you’ll have to find someone else with a working AIS receiver.

Assuming that other vessels nearby appear on Marine Traffic, you probably just have to give it time. When I installed my Matsutec HP-33A AIS it took around a day for me to appear, although nearby boats were visible. Now I appear at once. I think they probably put new signals on probation for a bit before showing them.

Thank you for the replies
i will put it on and leave it on for a few days this week and hopefully it will appear

i recently had the same scenario with my em-track. it was a bad vhf connector on the deck, even though i was receiving other vessels i wasnt transmitting, as soon as i sorted the connector i could see vessels even further out and i appeared on M.T
