I don't claim classic status for Olive but she does have solid wood masts.

The topmast especially is looking in need of some TLC and I'm unsure of whats the best stuff to use.

The mast is solid wood - no idea what sort - and there are one or two "shakes" in it. At least thats what the surveyor said. It is however a pretty substantial bit of tree.

I thought about Cuprinol - assuming I can get some dark brownish colour rather than the usual puke green.

Is that OK or is there something better?

I'll do the main and mizzen at the same time although they look reasonably good.

ANy ideas would be welcome

I used to use linseed oil mixed with clear Cuprinol (either Five Star or Wet & Dry Rot IIRC) provided you don't mind your spars ending up a blackish grey colour after a few years.
