Hi All
I'm thinking of spending the kids inheritance on a generator for a canal boat, I know most of you are deep water but may have or know someone with one in a ditch crawler.
Have anyone out there any comments on the Mastervolt Whispergen 3.5. i.e. got one, like it, hate it, shockingly expensive to service etc. Also have you got it raw water cooled or twin keel coolers (Mastervolt Holland offer keelcool kits, Mastervolt UK don't and swear no one has any problem with raw water), or are you cooling the altenator and oil from one keel cooler (not recommended by Mastervolt Holland).
Also any other recommendations for other makes, I know Ficher Panda make a compact water cooled one also but don't know anyone who has one. It has to be about 3Kv, her who must be obeyed wants a washing machine etc

We have one, admitedly only just fitted. I assume the one you mention is the same, because we chose the Mastervolt because the engine is oil-cooled, via a heat exchanger from raw water. It is a very nice piece of equipment, everything was supplied with it,and the quality was excellent. It starts very easily, and isn't quite whisper-quiet, but very acceptable nevertheless. The controls are computerised, and cover all necessary maintainance. We are very pleased with it.

Hi
Yes thats the one, thanks for the comments. I would like to hear also from a canal based owner as to how they have arranged their cooling.
