Mastervolt 12/2000 inverter fault

Hi hoping someone might be able to help

I have got a mastervolt mass 12/2000 pure sine inverter and It has stopped working.

It is flashing between the on light and overload light. It flashes between them for 20 flashes and then stops before starting flashing again.

It does this with the consumer unit on or off so it is not overloaded so I'm unsure what it means .

I have switched the 12v supply on and off to see it would reset but it doesn't.

Any ideas??

I looked at the manual for your model, and unsurprisingly, the lights flashing in the manner you describe, indicates a overload condition. It goes on to say that if they are flashing 5 times a second the inverter needs to be reset by switched off/ on at the main switch (on the unit itself as opposed to a remote control panel). The ventilation fan should be running full speed.
What is the history of the fault? Did it occur after being unused for some time?

I hadn't been fired up in a while. I have tried switching it off, disconnected it as well but neither seems to make any difference.

That fact that it does it with the consumer unit off, makes me think something has blown inside it unfortunately

Make sure you have the following information present if you have to contact your local Mastervolt Service Center to solve a problem:​

Article and serial number (see section 1.6)​

It's time perhaps to contact a Mastervolt Service centre

I always scratch my head when seeing threads like this. First port of call is always the manufacturer.

The reboot is a good save sometimes as mentioned above, to turn the little switch on the unit off, then on. If you didn’t try that little switch, do so first. I ended up having to send mine back for a repair. Call or email Aquafax if you need to do that as they are their repair intermediary/dealer. The fixed price repair for me wasn’t cheap - conveniently just enough below new replacement cost.

Thanks for the assistance. Having spoken to mastervolt they want it back but the cost of them checking it, is not much less then a new one.

Having done a bit more testing, when it goes into fault mode, the voltage drops to 4v and back to 12.7v as it flashes and the fan is at full speed.

This happens even if there is no load.

Sometimes it's fine for hours, boils a kettle etc and then goes into fault mode or sometimes after it is first switched on.

Could it be a battery issue, is so how do I check??

Turn the inverter off and remove the negative cable from the batteries. Then remove each and every battery cable connection between the batteries and the inverter, one at a time, check, clean and refit them. Connect the battery negative last. Don't forget, every connection, including fuses and isolator switches, where fitted.
