gooseneck (1).jpggooseneck (2).jpg

The gooseneck in these photos slides on a section of aluminium track, rivetted to the mast.

The track is worn, especially at its lower end, and I would like to replace it.

Does anyone have a piece. From memory, it is about 15" long.

Otherwise I shall have to end for end it.

Should some of the slack be taken up by plastic runners?
I used to sail on a boat which had similar looking track for the spinnaker pole eye.

Do you find any benefit from a sliding gooseneck?

My mast has a riveted on sail track that looks similar.

If you give me the dimensions I can check a piece I have at home.
Apologies for the delay in replying to your kind offer.

I thought I had a note somewhere of the length but I can't find it. My boat is in France and I won't be going out there for a couple of months..

I had a look at the designer's drawings and it just states "Lewmar 521 Roller Reefing ". I guess the roller reefing gear came complete with the short length of mast track. (as you can see, the reefing gear has gone but I kept the track and slider as I like to have a downhaul)

From memory, it will be between 12" and 24" long. Above that short length of track for the gooseneck is another rivetted-on track for the sail slides and that extends to the masthead.

The excessive play is due to wear of the track. There never were any plastic components involved.

I like the sliding gooseneck because it enables me to use a downhaul to easily tension the luff. Although there is main halyard winch I don't need to use it because I can quickly haul up the sail by hand and then tension it with the downhaul.

Can you post a drawing of the cross section with some dimensions
