For some time I have been trying to replace a missing fitting on my mast
It is a small 40mm long "slug" of alloy. One of a pair fitted on the mast in order to guide the bolt rope into the groove.
I have virtually given up trying to make it.
There is no name or number on the remaining one.
Perhaps more of a dinghy fitting?
Please, is anyone able to help me?

Regards Briani

Very kind of you Mainmarine.
I am not yet set up for posting photos,
however I will call in a favour shortly
In the meantime I can only say it does look like a slug and
is 40mm long by 25mm wide and has two holes 24mm apart
Thanks again

Yup - I know exactly what you mean - usually you get these from the mast manufacturer ...
Quite a few dinghy masts now have flared tracks instead of this lug. The lug could easily catch on worn parts of the luff and end up ripping the sail.

If you want to make one, get a bolt, the correct thickness, cut off the head and then round the ends, you should be able to weld on a small plate along the length to enable the attachment to the mast ... it might just be easier to get a pair of pliers and file, flare out the end of the track and file off the sharp bits!!
Unless Malc can help! of course!!
