I have just acquired a redundant Autohelm masthead wind transducer (ST80). I want to remove the wind cups and direction vane to keep as spares; they are secured by an Allen head screw which is probably seized on. Any advice on removing them without damage to screw head etc?

Unlikely to be siezed as from memory the allen screw is threaded through the plastic in the wind cups and direction vane. The end of the allen key "grub screw" locates in an indentation in the shaft to provide an interference fit. Mine were quite stiff when it came to release then---providing you have the correct sized allen key just apply plenty of pressure. You shouldn't have a problem.
