Masonry paint on gelcoat

Didn’t see much about it with a search so thought I’d post in case of use.

This is a bench seat for a fishing boat, previously ‘improved’ with textured masonry paint. It’s not a prize winner but I got it cheap as an interim measure - no seat currently.

First attempt was steam iron (trying not to spend money on tools) didn’t work well, next up mr muscle didn’t work, then hair dryer quite good along with sharp scraper and blade.

Today I used boiling water, rubber glove and a tough metal wire pan scourer. Takes a bit of elbow grease but after a few passes you cut the surface and it begins to wash away. The hotter the better.

Got a way to go yet, not sure if I’ll bother with the stains, maybe it will see a cut and polish
