Masking tape

I'd heard here that the stuff to go for when prep'ing for boot topping and antifoul painting is 'Blue' by 3M, so I dropped into my friendly neighbourhood Force 4 and asked for some. "Do you want the sooper-dooper 3M 'Blue' product at over £9 a roll, or would you prefer the common-or-garden 'Original Multi-Uso' 3M 'Blue' product at just over £3 per roll...."

What's to choose between them? Apart from the obvious....

As long as you take it off PDQ afterwards el cheapo is OK I find.

£9 stuff is 50mm wide

They dont list anything at £3 on their website http://www.force4.co.uk/Search/masking/

B&Q are cheaper

Never yet used anything other than the ordinary stuff ....

You are buying it from the wrong place, 3M 3434 is about £3 a roll:

Toolstation does a blue one a lot cheaper that I've found to be OK.

+ if you use a 'Hot-Air-Gun' to warm the tape before removal you'll never have a problem.

ASDA in Ardrossan sell 25m rolls of ordinary masking tape for 80p. Ideal for boot topping.

I use wickes blue 14 day tape even though the stuff is taken off the same day. Possibly around £5 per roll but it has worked unlike the light 'brown' coloured cheap stuff.
