Hi all, i am after your help....
I am currently in the process of purchasing a new boat but still not 100% sure of what to get, I have available 25 - 30000 max.
Ive been looking at a Fairline Corniche which I can purchase for 27000 this is the version with the twin volvo penta 165hp engines, it has been out of the water for 2 years and used solely on the river for the 6 years prior. Has 1600hrs on the engines, the hull looks in excellent condition.
The alternative Corniche is one with twin 200hp engines however is more pricey at 35000 this also has approximately 1600hrs but is in use regularly.
I am not totally set on a Corniche, just aware that these are popular boats within my price range, would really appreciate any suggestions anyone may have

Corniche is a decent boat, but probably a bit underpowered with the 165HP engines. OK for River or Estuary use, but the 200 HP would be better. I would expect ~ 22 - 25 knots.

Look closely at the cutlass bearings and shaft seals as like the Turbo 36, its big brother, these are a tw@t to change.

Boat not used much for past two years - sounds like Old Man Syndrome, so read a declared 2 years as more likely 4 or 5 years. Likely pretty much neglected since last use.

If the AP is £35k I would suggest you look closely at all tasks the boat might need doing, price for these then deduct these from the AP. The most a Corniche is going to ever be worth in absolutely first class condition is < £40 k, which is £10 k below a similar spec Turbo 36.

So the AP is £35k and best ever price is £40k. Add up all the jobs you can see, and add 25% to this for unknowns. Deduct this from the AP and max ever and IMHO you have the boats actual value range. Do not be surprised if this comes in way below the AP. You don't have to place an offer at this price, just suggest to the buyer this is where you would be looking at an offer.

If you want some guidance on what I did to my Turbo 36 take a look here. I also have buyers guides to the Corniche you might want to read.

PM me for the Corniche publications I have. Good luck with your search.

We had a Corniche with the 165hp engines in the Solent. It was fine there with a max speed of Round 17 knots, so she would plane. We took her down to Weymouth and it was a rough trip back also across the channel once. After these trips we traded her in for something a bit bigger and with more power.

Hi, thanks for your reply
That was my concern as will be using it out of Whitby, North Yorkshire and as I am sure you are aware the East coast can be unforgiving.
As I said I'm not stuck on a Fairline Corniche just realise I have limited options with my budget and do quite like the room inside, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated or maybe somebody knows of a decent boat for sale?
