Last year the rates were €27 for 12 meters high season in August - now they are €44 in May, the season now runs from May to September. Winter rate is now €27 - all the marinas have gone up from Port Napolean to Marseille uniformally all exactly the same rate. It would not have been a problem - but the weather and waiting for crew to come - on cancelled volcanic flights, have caused me to use them rather than anchor.

Anyway, I have devised a cunning plan to mitigate such a rip off. You know the Capitaneries generally close at 6pm and open at 8 am......... Lovely day in an anchorage (in the rain) and then........:D

Still - Crew arriving on the TGV this evening as Marseille airport totally closed at the moment. Wednesday to the Prqueroles and then Corsica. - After that its in the lap of the weather gods - Elbe or West coast Corsica....

I didn't find them very friendly when I was there, words to the effect 'no room go away', I found an unoccupied slot on a pontoon and camped there.
OK getting out into town but had to slip stream people coming in through the key coded gates ;) Then went out to Iles du Frioul.

At the moment there is plenty of space - especially Ile Frouil. I have seen loads of yachts all arrive late and leave early. Spoke to one of them (french) and they are incensed by the price rises and refuse to pay, thus adopting the arrive late leave early option, which of course is not on the marina price list!!!!!

Oh yes - they won't help much and in the recent storms were not in evidence at all (sitting in offices) as other people went round sorting out boats moorings to prevent damage.

Quite surprised by a couple of your comments :)

Generally the 'season' runs from 1st April - 30th Sept. Has done for many years.
Prices, not sure where your info is from, P. Napoleon has its moments but I don't consider a 1 euro rise as exorbitant. 12mts 2009 = 25 euro p night; 12 mts 2010 = 26 euro p night (winter rates) Summer rate; 38 euro in 2009 & 39 euro 2010.

Do you tamper with your gas & elec meter? I've heard the cost of both these services is rather high :(

Not sure about last year for Napolian - but we were charged €44.30 in line with Marseille. Which has gone up. You comment on tampering is uncalled for - please edit it out.
